Damp Proofing
Damp proofing goes wrong at the diagnosis, not the application. Four completely different problems produce the same stained wall and blistered paint, and three of the four will come straight back through the wrong treatment. We identify which one you have first.

What damp proofing covers
Four kinds of damp look identical on a wall and need completely different treatment. Pick the one that matches what you are seeing, or call and describe it and we will work out which it is.
Our Process
The diagnosis comes before the treatment. Four different problems produce the same stained wall, and three of the four come straight back through the wrong one.
- 1Free site inspection and diagnosis.
We establish which of the four you have, and where the moisture is coming from.
- 2An honest recommendation in writing.
Including "this is condensation, you do not need us" where that is the answer.
- 3Treatment at the cause, then reinstatement.
There is no single method for damp, and the right one depends entirely on the source, which is why we specify it after the inspection rather than before.
- 4Follow-up and guarantee.
Fred phones once the wall has had time to dry properly and prove itself. Written, minimum 2-year guarantee.

Why Choose TurboMax
We are waterproofers, not damp proofing salespeople. We have been diagnosing water in buildings since 2000, and the diagnosis is genuinely the part we are good at.
Fred owns the business and does the inspections himself. He follows up after the first proper rain, and if something has not held he comes back at our cost. Our reviews mention honesty and follow-up more than they mention anything technical, and on damp work that matters more than on almost any other job, because damp is the easiest thing in this trade to sell someone who does not need it.
Written, minimum 2-year guarantee on the workmanship, with extended and 10-year service guarantees available on request.
What Our Customers Say
Verbatim reviews from Google, alongside photographs of damp proofing we have actually done. No stock imagery.

Fred is a man of his word. The work they did on our roof was on time and good quality.

Repaired some leaks, redid the waterproofing and sprayed my entire roof with liquid rubber in 2 days at a reasonable price. They also guarantee their work for 2 years.

Run by a hands-on owner who impressed with his honesty and integrity. After the first rains, he contacted me to enquire about the work.

I received an extremely professional and friendly service. I was provided with expert advice throughout the project, which was completed well within time and under budget.

Excellent, professional, well-priced work. And a completely hassle-free process! 6/5. Thanks Fred!
Thank you TurboMax Waterproofing for your service and after service. I can definitely recommend your professional service.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers, including the ones that talk us out of a bigger job.
What does damp proofing cost?
It depends entirely on the diagnosis, which is why we inspect before we quote. Treating a metre of wall where a downpipe has been discharging against it is a small job. A full-height weatherproofing treatment on an exposed elevation is not. Extent, height, access, and whether plaster has to come off and go back on are the main drivers, and we quote preparation and reinstatement separately from the treatment.
Why does my damp keep coming back after I paint it?
Because paint is a surface treatment and the moisture is behind it, pushing outward. Until the water path is stopped, every repaint has a short life. This is the most common damp story we hear, and it is the reason the diagnosis comes before the treatment rather than after it.
How do I tell rising damp from penetrating damp myself?
Rising damp starts at the floor, stops in a fairly even band about a metre up, and looks the same in July as it does in January. Penetrating damp appears higher, favours the weather-facing walls, and darkens while it is actually raining. Salt damp leaves white powdery crusts and crumbling plaster in dry weather. If none of those quite fit, it is probably condensation.
Is damp worse in winter?
Considerably. About seventy percent of our annual rain falls between June and September, so penetrating damp peaks then, and unheated walls make condensation peak at the same time. That is exactly why the best time to treat damp is late summer or autumn, when the masonry is at its driest and a treatment can be applied and cured properly.
Can damp cause mould, and does treating the damp fix the mould?
Persistent moisture is what mould needs to live. Scrubbing or spraying the surface removes what you can see and changes nothing underneath. Removing the moisture source starves it, which is the only version that lasts.
