What does gutter installation cost in Cape Town?
Run length and material set the baseline, then corners, outlets, downpipe runs and access height. Fascia replacement is quoted separately so you see it up front rather than as a variation later. A complicated roofline costs more per metre than a simple rectangle.
We added an extension and now a wall gets wet. Is that the gutters?
Very often, and it is one of the most common calls we take. Either the extension has no gutter and is shedding straight down the wall, or it has been tied into an existing run whose single downpipe is now draining far more roof than it was sized for. Both are straightforward to correct.
How many downpipes should my house have?
More than most houses in this metro have. A long run with one outlet copes all year and overflows along its whole length in a serious front. Extra outlets are usually cheaper than a bigger gutter profile and work better. We size it against the roof area draining into each run.
Should I choose aluminium or steel?
Near the coast, aluminium, comfortably. Salt air corrodes steel from the inside where silt holds moisture, and gutters are among the first things to go. Inland the gap narrows and appearance and budget matter more. We will tell you which case your house is.
Can gutters be added to a house that has never had them?
Yes, and it is common on older properties and on additions. The main extra consideration is finding a sensible discharge route, which on a house with no existing stormwater provision sometimes takes more pipe than people expect. Getting that right is the point of the exercise.
