Our Process

Nothing comes off until we know where the water is going. A fair number of these end as a small surface repair rather than a stripped bathroom.

Free inspection and diagnosis.
We establish where the water is going and whether the failure is at the surface or under the tiles, before anything comes off.

Written quote.
Localised repair where that will genuinely hold, full strip and rewaterproof where it will not, with preparation and reinstatement priced separately.

Waterproofing and retiling.
Liquid rubber membrane across the floor, up the walls, into every corner and junction, dressed properly into the outlet. Then we retile.

Follow-up and guarantee.
Fred follows up once the wall has had time to dry and prove itself. Written, minimum 2-year guarantee.

What does it cost to fix a leaking shower?

It depends almost entirely on whether the tiles come up. A failed silicone joint or a section of grout is a small job. A full strip, rewaterproof and retile is not. Tile choice matters too, since matching a discontinued tile is often impossible and may push the job wider than the shower itself.

Can you fix a leaking shower without removing the tiles?

Only when the failure is genuinely at the surface. If the membrane underneath has gone, a surface treatment will not hold, and we will tell you that before you spend money on it rather than after.

Why is the wall behind my shower damp when the shower looks perfect?

Because the tiles are not the waterproofing. Water passes through grout normally, and if the layer underneath has failed, the wall absorbs it. A shower can look flawless while the wall behind it is saturated, and it usually does.

Is this a plumbing leak or a waterproofing leak?

Sometimes it is plumbing, a leaking mixer or a pipe in the wall. Establishing which is part of our diagnosis, so you do not pay a waterproofer to chase a plumbing fault or a plumber to chase a membrane failure. Where it turns out to be pipework, we will say so and you can call the right trade.

How long will my bathroom be out of action?

For a surface repair, usually a day. For a full strip and rewaterproof, longer, because the membrane needs curing time before tiling and the tiling needs its own. We give you the schedule with the quote and plan it to be as short as it honestly can be. If it is your only bathroom, tell us and we will build the plan around that.
