What do gutters cost to install or repair?
Cleaning, repairs and installation are three different jobs and we price them separately. Installation is driven by run length, material, the number of downpipes and corners, and whether the fascia is sound enough to hang gutters on. Repairs are priced by what actually needs doing, which is often much less than people expect.
Are seamless gutters worth the extra?
On long, straight runs, yes, because joints are where gutters eventually leak and seamless removes them from the run. On a house with short runs and several corners, you still have joints at every corner and outlet, so the advantage is smaller. We will tell you which case your house is.
Do gutter guards mean I never have to clean gutters again?
No, and anyone selling them on that basis is overstating it. They genuinely reduce leaf build-up, which matters if you have oaks or pines overhead. They do not stop the fine sand and grit that makes up most of what fills gutters here, and some designs collect a mat of wet leaves on top that sheds water straight over the edge.
How do I know my gutters are causing my damp wall?
Go outside while it is raining hard and watch them. Water spilling behind the gutter rather than over the front, running down the wall face, or a downpipe discharging against the wall instead of into a drain, is the answer. The stain inside usually sits directly in that spill path.
Should I match my gutters to my roof material?
Visually it often looks better, and on a Chromadek roof matching gutters are a common choice. Functionally, aluminium is the more durable answer in coastal air regardless of what the roof is made of. It is worth weighing appearance against how long you want to go before replacing them again.
