What does a roof repair cost?
It depends on extent, roof type, access and what we find underneath. A few cracked tiles and a relined valley are not the same job, and a double-storey with no safe ladder position costs more to work on than a single-storey with clear ground. We quote the repair separately from any preparation work, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
My roof only leaks in heavy rain. Is that normal?
It is very common and it tells us something useful. Wind-driven rain on a winter cold front comes in almost horizontally and gets past details that vertical rain runs straight over: flashings, upstands, sheet end laps and window heads on the north and west faces. Mention the pattern when you call, it narrows the search considerably.

Yes, and it is the single most common call we get. It almost always means the visible drip was sealed rather than the entry point found. We start the diagnosis from scratch rather than building on someone else's assumption about where the water is coming in.
My ceiling has a damp stain but I cannot see anything wrong with the roof.
That is the classic hidden leak. Water enters at a small fault, travels along a batten or a beam, and drops somewhere else entirely. It cannot be diagnosed from inside the house looking up. It has to be traced on the roof, which is exactly what the inspection is for.
Is this a roof leak or a plumbing leak?
If the patch appears or grows during dry spells when it has not rained, plumbing is the first suspect. If it tracks the weather, it is the roof. Our inspection establishes which, so you call the right trade and pay for the right fix. Internal pipe work and underground pipe leaks are a plumber's job and we will say so rather than take the work.
